21/10/2006

21/10/2006 (Sat)

Today we went to Graz. Graz is a city in the south of the Austria. We took bus from Linz at the 7:30 in the morning. Every body was very punctually except some Taiwanese girls. I guessed they are the latest one because there were no Spanish girls. ^^ anyway, we embarked on time. On the way to Graz, our REFI guys showed us again how Austrian can drink. They offered us free beer as a breakfast, but who will drink in the morning? The answer was Austrian. I never saw their hand without any bottle of beer. The funniest was, they drank too much, so they stopped the bus every one hour to pee. Sometimes there was no rest station near the high way. They just pulled off the bus and peed to the tree. We can see from this picture.

Okay, if this was a part of our tour, I can accept it. We arrived on the Graz about 12. Frank, Carlos, Lilia and I, we four went together for a lunch. We found out there were shoes shops everywhere in the Graz, somebody said this was cheap in Graz. I didn’t know. But even I know I could not afford it. Finally, we found an Austrian traditional market. It was nice to integrate their life when you traveled. However, we tried two or three stores that looked like they sell food. Sorry, we are in Austria. They only sell alcohol. The time was about 1 in the afternoon. For Austrian, it didn’t mater when to drink. Everyone stood outside the store and drank. Wein, beer, Sturm… anyone you can image. Finally, we found a store which sells alcohol as well as food. I ordered a “Schnitzelsemmel.” It was good and cost only 2.4 EUR. Then we came back to city ground and had a city tour.

We met Spanish girls there. They were late for the half day ( just joking). We started our city tour. Actually I didn’t pay attention to city tour. In my impression, the king who built the castles in Graz also built a castle in Linz. He left some mysterious letters”A E I O U.” not until he told to public about the letters; he died, leaving it as a mystery in the Graz. He also had a spiral stairs. It was also good. For the other building, I could not remember now. Anyway, it was all beautiful building.

In the evening I went to the Schlossberg. (I met Vicky, Frank, Carlos, and Raul there) There I could see all the city of Graz. In the mountain, it was easy to see the structure of the house in the medieval time. They would build house like a wall or a fortress and there is a square inside the four sides of the houses. And many small building formed a big square again. The biggest square is usually in front of the Rathaus or Kirchen. The city of Graz maintains very well. You can easily understand the philosophy of their architecture in medieval.

At night we went to the artificial island first. They had half price for the cocktail. Because I thought I was going clubbing, I only ordered coffee. (It was a big mistake in the end.) I heard a very beautiful love story from the Agnes, a very cute and thin Hungarian girl and the birth plan of Ildiko, I call her the teacher of palace because she is so elegant. It was amazing they both wanted three children. I don’t want a child in the future. I hate children. Then we went to three monkeys, which is a pub. It was nothing special there. I told the story of the pub in Taiwan. Everyone was shocked. Yes, it is. I was telling the truth. The clubbing in Taiwan is not healthy and acceptable to some people. So that explained why many Taiwanese girls here don’t like to go clubbing. They were frightened in Taiwan. For me it was okay, it’s just the place to relax and have chat with friends. I would not wear bikini and take off there. ^^ then we came back to hostel. What a good day it was.
